Oh no! Are you sliding down the chimney, too?

Christmas is around the corner, and my client Jane is having
“Christmas Syndrome”—
She is working her way down the chimney…faster than Papa Noel!
And no, it is not because she enjoys it.

She experiences stress, tension, and overwhelming anxiety with the
responsibilities of the season. To make matters worse, she has
sustained an injury that has immobilized her temporarily. For a week
now, her mind has been consumed with worry about all of the things she
“should” be doing…

.and she feels so bad about the whole “holiday
thing” that she is beating herself up about it. She is pushing herself
down the chimney emotionally and feeling as if she has no choice in
the situation.

Uh-oh: “No choice!” This is a dirty word.

Well, if you are the least bit like Jane, you understand what I mean.
But what can you do, then?

You have two choices, actually. You can keep working your way down the
chimney again and again, or… (better): follow my advice to her:

First: GET PESTO!

Yes, -- got my Italian accent?
When you are experiencing overwhelming frustration and lack of power
in the face of your situation, the only way up is to feel the emotion
that sits just above “powerlessness” in the ladder of emotions (see
Abraham-Hicks), which is : ANGER. Think about it. When you are angry,
you actually feel better. You are reclaiming a portion of your power.
You don’t let anyone push you down the chimney anymore. You fight
back. You begin to decide what you really want.

And this is the secret for climbing out of the chimney…feeling better,
more empowered! It will free up your energy and energize your spirit
even more, so you have plenty to spend on Christmas stuff...

Next: Always know that if Christmas is not exactly like it “should”
be, who cares?

The “good” news is that there is another one next year, and the year
after that, etc…

So, take it easy. Get yourself angry for a little while. Take just the
time you need to feel your power build up inside, and then decide what
you really want to do. Accept that things may not be perfect. It will
not be the end of the world.

Feeling alive and happy in the present is truly the most important
thing you can do after all…if you want the Papa Noel of the Universe
to bring you all the wonderful gifts of your wildest wishes and
dreams.

 Warmly,
