Milking Laziness for All it's Worth
Lately I have been
doing my best to be lazy!
Remember: Abraham-Hicks addressed the art of
allowing. She explained that humans find the concept
of "allowing"too close to that of laziness. Humans like
to struggle and often think hard work validates their existence.
Well... I have been doing an experiment lately:
I decided to allow myself to be as lazy as possible!
To clarify my meaning, let me define laziness in
the way I practice it:
Doing nothing that I don't feel excited about
Ceasing to fight, strive, or force any action as soon as
it feels like the smallest struggle.
Waiting patiently for the feeling of excitement
about what I want to do before doing it.
At first it is a challenge, I assure you.
Some days I happened to be free as a bird, having no
scheduled appointments. I ended up doing nothing but
reading and relaxing until I received the exciting urge
to do something else.
I have been following these rules religiously for
the last three weeks and the results are simply magical.
They are so positive that I have decided to remain lazy for
the rest of my life :)
Here how it goes:
I create a "to do" list (based on what my limited conscious
mind thinks and knows), but then I let myself search my
inner being and discover which item I am most "fired up" over.
And if I am not excited by any of the items, I look for another
activity that did not make the list.
Feeling excited and joyful --without any specific reason --is the
signal that our energies are aligned; Creation is just around the
corner and will be knocking on our door shortly! It is time to act!
I wait as long as I need to wait: hours, days, weeks...
It doesn't matter.
I am done with pushing and pulling... doing it the hard way.
I know that if I wait a bit, the thing I seek will just flow
naturally into my life.
For example, I had a list of people I thought I needed
to call, but I just couldn't "gear up" to call them.
I would find anything else to distract myself.
Beware: when you do this, it is not procrastination.
Understand that this is the sign that the energies are
not aligned and even if you called you would find resistance
on the other end of the line and no progress toward completion
of your project.
Forced effort usually turns out to be a frustrating experience and
a loss of time and energy.
The foremost problem we face as humans (I notice) is that
we want to control the "when" and "how" of things getting done.
Each time we attempt to do this, we end up struggling. Life
becomes increasingly difficult.
So, returning to my story: I waited for inspiration. It took two
weeks. One day my internet connection was down and everything
on my "to do" list that day involved using the internet.
So instead of fighting and feeling the usual frustration, I just
turned away from my computer and began searching my being for a
sense of excitement. About anything.
What would excite me at that moment?
And it came to me... loudly and with urgency!
I felt a jolt of excitement about calling people.
I actually thought it would be fun! And who should I call first?
So I opened a real estate magazine I had received which
advertised many businesses and vendors. On the second page,
I noticed this really funny add for a mortgage broker.
I had not put "call a mortgage broker" on my list, but
what the heck? I follow my "fun urge". I called the guy
and we connected immediately. (In two ways: although the internet was
out, the phone line wasn't. Plus, he was fantastic and we
proceeded to chat like buddies!)
He helped me with all of my real estate questions. He even
automatically answered questions I would have never thought to
ask him, although they were on my mind.
With one phone call I was pre-approved for a loan,
became totally educated about real estate, and had a
great time!
He also advised me of a meeting to attend where I met an
equally fascinating person and learned even more.
Now the three other people on my call list had suddenly
become totally nonessential to the situation. I had all the
answers and more in one fun phone call!
After that experience I refined my lazy approach:
Wait, even if it takes weeks or months to feel the motivation.
Really: Never do something that does not feel comfortable and
fun at the moment.
Remember: Those things you resist doing will become fun and
exciting when the time is right. When your ducks are in a row,
the Universe will notice this alignment and serve up the excitement
you need on a silver platter!
You are not in control!
Do not push against anything. When you ask, it is given.
After that your job is to patiently wait for the appropriate energy
when your creation is lined up and ready to manifest.
Since I have been applying the art of laziness,
every single day offers a series of multi-sized miracles.
I wished for help with my website, but according to my new
laziness philosophy, I refused to research and interview tons
of people. I preferred to wait on them to materialize.
Well, the perfect person appeared as if by magic this week.
This trick works even better than I thought!
I also went to a Meet-Up group in Houston to play a board game
and have fun; I paired up with a person who happens to have a
successful real estate business in Houston.
He answered the new questions that had popped into my head.
I now feel totally comfortable asking him anything. In addition, he
previously worked with the mentor I am currently thinking of consulting...
Miracles upon miracles this week.
So, now it is clear. I need to wait for my guidance system to tell me
when it is the right time to act. And the guidance is a sense of
excitement: When I don't know what I should do next, I check with my heart.
I am looking for fun here!
When I want to ask for something, I go into my heart, and say or think:
"I would loooove to ....whatever." Feeling the anticipation, I know it
is answered already so I stay open and listen for exciting actions to take.
They may not come for days or weeks...Who cares? They are on their way.
Like James Taylor sings, "It's enough to be on your way...."
(Never understood that until now.)
We humans tend to want to control time! We want it now!
But in fact, everything is there, we only need to let go of our compulsion
to control the when.
When you let go of the when, you are done! Your life becomes
magical!
So be lazy. Ignore the work ethic thing. Do only what feels good and
is exciting to you at present. Take the risk; decide to try it for a
few weeks. You are going to rock your world!
Have fun!
